I'm completely immersed in my paintings once again. I am no longer suffering from a state of unconquerable inertia. No thoughts distract me and I begin to paint from days on end.
"Through his paintings and pictures I feel that he captures moments in life that he knows will never come back again. And I feel that it's an admirable attempt that we all strive for because too soon now turns to then and we just want so badly to hold on." -Natasha Angela Gregorio
Robert Andre Gregorio is a painter, graphic artist and photographer in the Chicagoland area. Upon receiving his Bachelors of Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University in 2007, he traveled the country for a year with an unplanned itinerary and destination plan.
Born in Manila, Philippines, his paintings still carry the undertones of his youth in that country and in that time. In 1991 he moved to Chicago, Illinois and found himself displaced in his new surroundings. Amidst the strained memories of the Philippines, Robert tends to envision and unintentionally revisit that space of time through his work.
His paintings, including his Squatters series were featured at the Jack Olson Gallery at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois in 2006. In the same year, several of his paintings, including “Nonetheless,” were displayed at the Asian American Cultural Center in DeKalb, Illinois. In 2008, “Mount Pinatubo” and “Casañas Street” from his Squatters series were judged and selected for display in the Beyond the Barrelman Showcase at the Mercury Cafe in Chicago, Illinois. In 2009, “Christiana,” from his Irving Park series was selected to be featured at New Wave Coffee in Logan Square, as a part of the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival. Robert has donated his work to international charities for fund-raising and his photographs has been featured in local blogs, newspapers and readers.
He is currently employed as a Graphic Artist for a film production company.
